Most of the papers comprise correspondence, research material and drafts of The yellow lady: Australian impressions of Asia (Oxford University Press, 1992). The collection also includes papers on The male reasons (unpublished novel), book reviews and other writings, drafts of speeches and talks, official papers (relating to Broinowski's career in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade) and seminar and conference papers. The correspondents include Nicholas Jose, Peter Rushford, Martin Sharp, Don'o Kim, Carolina de Waart, Mark O'Connor, Christopher Koch, John Wolseley, Harold Williams, Peter Sculthorpe, Vincent Plush, Yasmine Gooneratne, Heja Chong, Jim Angel, Alfred W.
